Houston – Texas Instruments (TI) today released the DM335, the lowest-cost member of its DaVinci family of processors . The new DM335 is offered at $10.48 in 100-unit quantities, a roughly 25% reduction from the DM355.

Like the previous DM355, it features an ARM926EJ-S (clocked at 135MHz, 216MHz, or 270 MHz), as well as a host of hardware accelerators for resizing, histogram generation, and on-screen display. The cost decrease from the previously announced DM355 comes largely from removing the MPEG-4/JPEG coprocessor found in the DM355.

The DM335 targets devices featuring advanced image capture/display and advanced graphical user interfaces (GUI), such as internet radio, e-books, video surveillance products and digital telescopes.

The new digital media processor is completely scalable with the DM355 processor and Digital Video Evaluation Board (DVEVM), allowing customers to re-use both hardware and software designs for DM335-based projects. The peripheral set remains the same as in the DM355.
