SAN FRANCISCO—RF semiconductor supplier TriQuint Semiconductor Inc. has acquired TriAccess Technologies, a provider of cable TV and fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) ICs, the company said Thursday (Sept. 3). Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
TriQuint (Hillsboro, Ore.) previously served as a foundry supplier to TriAccess, the company said.
In a statement, Brian Balut, vice president of network products at TriQuint, said TriAcess brings a strong portfolio of products for the cable TV and FTTP markets, which accelerates TriQunit's strategy of serving these applications.
"The combined resources of TriQuint and TriAccess put the company in a leadership position in these growing markets," Balut said.
TriQuint said the acquisition would help the company capitalize on the opportunity provided by competition for "triple-play services"—Internet, video and voice—among cable and telecom operators in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
As a result of the acquisition, Chris Day, TriAccess' president and chief technology officer, will manage TriQuint's design center in Santa Rosa, Calif., TriQuint said.
TriQuint said TriAccess' results are not expected to materially impact TriQuint's net income. TriQuint's board of directors approved issuance of 170,300 stock options to 10 former TriAccess employees as part of the deal, the company said. The options grants are effective Sept. 3.
